“A mind when stretched by a new idea never regains its original dimensions”
National mathematics day was observed by the middle section on 22 December 2016 with a great enthusiasm. The day was observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan, an Indian mathematician who made significant contribution to several fields of mathematics. The day was witnessed by Mr.Arvind Gujjar, Mrs.Rajashree, Mrs.Ambika and a few teachers.
The programme started at 10:30 a.m. with a poem on angles. Niranjan of II PUC highlighted the significance of the day and enriched the children’s knowledge by giving creative magic squares. Nature’s beauty was picturised through Fibonacci series to encourage the student’s thinking skills of interpretation , that was shown through a short cartoon movie.
To hone the mental acuity of the students, activities like math puzzles, games, and quiz were conducted for class 6th, 7th and 8th under the guidance of respective teachers.
The idea of this programme was to reinforce the students’ mathematical skills and to view them as interesting challenges, to analyze patterns and relationships and to apply concepts to daily life.
