“It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves – in finding themselves”
To give a live exposure of life to students with a blend of obstacles and joy of exploring themselves in the nature with available limited resources, Middle section had organised an Overnight Adventurous Camp in Saidaravalli, Sagar, for Class VIII Students on 12th and 13th January 2017. The camp was lead by one of the adventurous trekker of Sagar, a versatile swimming coach and one of the well wishers of the Institution Mr Harish Navathe. He is professionally associated with LIC.
The camping programme started in the morning at 9.30 am on 12th January, where the troupe left the campus along with enthusiastic 110 Students and 10 teachers to escort them. After reaching the camp site they all began to formulate comfortable tents to withstand the cold night. Later, the entire troupe was divided into three activity groups which were Adventurous rope climbing, Adventurous trekking and swimming. All the three groups participated enthusiastically in all the three adventurous activities on rotation basis.
At Night, the entire troupe gathered together for the dinner with camp fire. This was followed by a series of creative cultural programmes. The inhabitants of the Saidaravalli also witnessed and enjoyed the cultural events along with the Honourable Principal Mrs Shobha Ravindra, Vice Principal Mr. Aravind Gujjar and Middle Section Head Mrs. Rajashree. Meanwhile, a telescope was installed to facilitate the Sky Watch programme by our own resource person and lecturer of Physics, Mr. Rohit. At around 10.00pm the troupe decided to enjoy the moonlight silently by walking for about half an hour, post which they retired to their respective tents to sleep and rest.
The next dawn, after fresh up, the students started their day with BP Six exercises and got warmed up for the other adventurous activities. They broke their fast and resumed their respective teams for the scheduled activities. At around 1pm, they huddled together to have lunch and started winding up the camp with great despair as they felt the camp could have continued for some more time. Before leaving the place they cleaned the surroundings and made it plastic free.
Totally, the overnight camp gave a commendable experience to the students with a set of life skills that prepared them to face the ordeals of life.
